You can’t stop Unwanted Sexual Behavior…alone.
Men go for years trying to stop unwanted sexual behavior on their own.
As uncomfortable of a truth that it is, we need to involve others in our lives who have gone before us and can coach us along to sobriety, just like any addiction. We are not meant to live or fight alone.
You hate this secret about yourself.
Realizing you cannot stop no matter how hard you try. It is a sobering reality when we realize, we are no longer in control.
Feelings of shame and disgust are common after the fact. Empty promises and vows to God, yourself, maybe even your spouse with full intent to stop. But it never lasts long and you find yourself in front of the computer fantasizing over a smorgasbord of options, maybe opening a hook-up app or possibly you find yourself on the streets looking for connection in the wrong places.
No one knows this part of you. The unwanted sexual behavior seems so opposite of how others view you and yet it is a significant part of your life.
You Are Not Alone.
“68% of church-going men and over 50% of pastors view porn on a regular basis. Of young Christian adults 18-24 years old, 76% actively search for porn.
59% of pastors said that married men seek their help for porn use.” 47% of families in the United States reported that pornography is a problem in their home. Pornography use increases the marital infidelity rate by more than 300%.
56% of American divorces involve one party having an “obsessive interest” in pornographic websites.

Don’t Be A Statistic.
We all have stories and there is a reason why you have not been able to kick this habit. This is not just a moral issue, this is also a physiological issue. Through recent years of the Brain Science revolution, there have been amazing effective tools developed to heal the mind, body and soul. This gives us the freedom to pause on the self-condemnation thoughts and discover a curiosity as to why we seek out pornography, sexting and other unwanted and destructive behaviors.

Dr. Mark Laaser writes, “In Romans, 12:2, the apostle Paul offered a fuller vision for how our hearts and minds change. We are instructed not to be conformed to the ways of the world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Renewing our minds is not about turning off our minds. It is about turning to pursue the deeper affections God has given us.”
