Your life is drowning in cultural chaos.
While living in a culture of chaotic distractions, we rarely slow down to discover what is going on inside ourselves.
When life gets hard, we self-medicate with food, alcohol, television, and busyness. These patterns become set and are so common and subtle that we do not notice how unhealthy we have become.
Over time, our social, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being takes a steep downward dive.
And that dive starves the soul of critical nutrients such as with loved ones, connection with God, nature, and self through silence and solitude.
Somewhere, life took a wrong turn.
For many, life does not go the way we had dreamed of when we were younger.
Maybe you feel that you have chosen the wrong career or the wrong person to marry.
Perhaps, as hard as you have tried to raise your kids well, their lives look very different from what you had hoped.
Shall I bring up the stress of finances? Market Watch states that only 28% of Americans are considered “financially healthy.” The lack of money or the mishandling of it will always heighten any other form of stress or anxiety.
You can’t seem to find relief.
Our relief efforts are not sufficient. How many times have you plopped down on the couch to eat and watch several episodes of your favorite show? In the end, how did you feel – disappointed? The escape is over, and you now must face reality by going to bed to start all over the next day.
Then there are more destructive ways to find relief, such as alcohol, substance abuse, or the use of pornography. In the church alone, 70% of men, 33% of women, and 50% of pastors struggle with porn addiction.
With support from others, encouragement from Scripture, and an understanding of how the brain works, I can help you move from harmful habits to healthy restoration.
The weeds have crowded out life’s real purpose.
Psalm 1 gives us a picture of how life should appear. It tells us that our roots need to be firmly planted by streams of water so that we can yield fruit in its season.
Many of us do not have roots planted in Scripture. We do not meditate day and night on good, true, and beautiful things that God graciously sends our way.
Our culture of “comfort” distracts us from having the ability and insight to see the essential things that make up a good and fulfilling life.
Restoration is key to overcoming chaos.
We must be kind to ourselves and draw from Christ’s graciousness.
Christ has given you purpose and identity. It is time to live it out!
